    Danno,
That's a hard one man. I guess that depends on if you have kids to undo all you do. My method was to just wait until they grew up and left. Then I put all of the tools into rollercabinets and hung the uncommon tools that are seldom used on the pegboard. Things like plumbing tools and such. The stuff that accumulates that may seldom be used I put into large plastic containers like you can get at Dollar General and stacked them in one corner.
Still in all, my garage is a pig stye.
I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I would first go through every thing and sort it out by tools -- screw drivers, hammers etc. Then get rid of duplicates or any tool that no longer works. I had Phillips head screw drivers that were so worn down they were useless. Sell or give away any excess tools.

Then think about each room in your home -- is there a room that could use a tool in it that would make your life easier? For example, in may bath room the medicine cabinet and the vanity doors need the screws tightened every once in awhile. So I have a Phillips head screw driver in the bathroom drawer so it is easy to take care of.

Then I like the peg board idea and the idea of having everything visible and easy to find. There are tool organizers that you can hang on a wall. I like shallow drawers, cabinets, racks so that things do not get lost. I also like to use Sharpee markers to mark what is what or create list so that I knwo what I have before I go out and buy it again.

Good luck, it is not easy to keep it all organized.

Hi, I own a professional organizing business and I have helped many men and their garages and tools. It is good if you have help. but this is a basic plan.

I am sure that you do not need everything, and that some of these things are causeing clutter.
First. take out at least 7 to 10 boxes. sort all of your things into like piles, everything that is the same, goes in one box. when that is down. pair down to 4 boxes. To keep, to give away, to throw away and to donate. Decide what you want to keep. then go to www.poconoorganizer.com and find some nice organizing tools to buy! I don't make a profit, but I spent alot of time finding some really cool stuff for people to use, I had an organizing obsession at one point so I found it all!!! If you have any specific questions or need further assistance you can contact me direct from this website and I will be happy to answer more specific questions, again this is free. Good luck

new member here...i could not log onto the poconoorganizer site...but I just recently went through my "junk" drawers and areas, I thinned out considerably and I am taking the 27 things a day to throw away attitude, I carry a tote or trash bag around with me and gather things that are just collecting dust...and realizing we do not need 210 pencil holders, 14 markers laying around, magazines, and I only keep the ad with the coupons clipped to them from the sunday paper for the week ahead, i try to thin out as soon as it hits my door :)
