I would like to hear others opinion on when the best time to clean is. Sure, not everything someone does works for others, but I have found that when I do the cleaning earlier than later it is much more rewarding. For example, if I get up at 6am and maybe do a little workout before getting the kids up and off to school. Then as soon as I get home I do one major cleaning event (ie. major means hands and knees scrubbing type cleaning). If I do this consistently then the only other things I need to do during the rest of the day is just keep the floor picked up of all the little things. Usually a quick sweep of the toys on the floor right before my husband comes home works the best.

When I do the major cleaning early my day is so much more enjoyable because I know I have already accomplished something good for the day. If I want to take a nap I can rest better. I know my husband is pleased when he comes home to a clean home.

Please let us know if you have any special tricks that you use to help keep the house clean, or what/how do you reward yourself for getting some work done?

I find the best and easiest time to clean is right after you make a mess (big or small) and before you do anything else and leave it to possibly forgeting and letting things pile up. ...You dirty a dish then bring it to the sink and rinse it quick/ rinse it and load it in the dishwasher...You notice your entrance way mat looking dirtier with tracked in debris while coming in, then take a second to shake it out... Something is spilt on the floor, wipe/sweep it up quick...etc.

My 2kids (1yr & 2yrs.) have a ton of toys! which makes it easier for toys to get scatterd everywhere! I like to keep the majority of their toys put away in the basement where there still easily accessible for me. I bring up only so many toys, and after about a month (when there kinda getting bored) I will switch those toys for different ones.

It's also best to split duties among the family as much as possible and to keep things clean by maintaing it all (weekly) instead of allowing things to get really dirty before cleaning. I usually do all my major chores on a Saturday (washing bed linens, wiping everything down, vaccum/mopping the floors, etc.) Change all the garbages every 2days approx. Just stay on top of things before they topple over you is what works best for me.

Keeping cleaning supplies easy to get to for every floor of your home as well as organized and all together makes it all that much easier!

I reward myself by enjoying a clean and organized (less stressed)home.
