    Hello,

I have been here before but had to leave for a season due to illness.
They say every cloud has a silver lining. Mine is that throughout the course of my illness I have learned the fine art of becoming a househusband.
If I am able to go back to work I will be happy as I have held two jobs my entire life. It's just how I was raised. A husband/father thing from the old school.
If my crushed disc makes returning to work impossible at least I have a new skill.
I enjoy the topics here. Maybe down the road I may need some advice. I'm still new at this.
Take care and may God bless,
    Frank

    Good Evening Delmar,

I can relate to your story...as I too, share the experience of a painful lower disc herniation x2 plus 2 more bulging causing not only pain, but sometimes the inability of even being able to get myself out of bed before noon! My injury is a result of scoliosis that has progressed, keeping me from working (just like yourself) two jobs. To exacerbate the matter, my physician has prescribed medications that inable me to drive a car, so I stay home limited. I am married and my husband works full-time, so I do try to keep our home as clean as "I" can. Some days the house will go left untouched, but you see, it is just the 2 of us at home, so the house does not get too "dirty" or "cluttered". Still, if the house is left untouched for more than a day, I can tell and it depresses me. As for laundry, It must be done if not daily, than every other day...I have to play it by ear, you see. My husband does try to help when he is not too tired from his day on the job. One thing I have learned through this experience is: 1) Not to be so hard on myself if I hurt too much to get anything done; 2) make at least the effort in trying to accomplish one goal/house-chore per day, and increase my goal(s) on my "To-Do List" as I am able. We all have good days and bad days...even for those who do not have issues such as yours/mine. So, with that said...take it slow and attempt one goal a day with every intent to increase your goals as you are able, okay?

Thank you so much for reponding and reminding me I am not alone in this. I hope you get feeling better.
One thing I have learned lately while experimenting was how to keep dust from gathering on ceiling fans as fast as it used to. It's bad out here in cornfield county.
I was using polyueurethane on some wood and decided to see if that would help on my ceiling fans. I was going after the "wet look" I got on other wood by putting many coats on heavy.
I noticed the wood had a very course texture and it made me wonder if that was escalating it's dust grabbing habits.
It took 3 heavy coats but when I was done the blades look wet at all times. I also noticed that there has been no dust accumulation since. That was three weeks ago and they are still as clean and slick as when I cleaned them prior to applying the polyeurethane.
The slick surfaces are far easier to clean.
I've even used it on a sewing machine cabinet and Peavy speaker cases.
It seems like the uses are almost endless and make cleaning a breeze.
If anyone is interested I used Minwax high gloss clear polyeurethane. It was well worth the $8.00 I spent.
    May God bless,
    Del
